Ascent AI ("the app", "we") is a personal fitness assistant that reads your Apple Health data, logs meals and workouts, and lets you chat with Ascent. This policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. We collect only what the app needs to function; we do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
The controller is Bernard Tsang, an individual developer trading as Ascent AI, located at Hong Kong SAR, China. You can contact the controller at bernard.tsz.kin.tsang@gmail.com.
To answer questions, analyze meal photos, transcribe voice notes, and operate your own fitness tools, the coach sends your message content, a bounded fitness context, and temporary media through OpenRouter to the configured model provider. The current model lanes use DeepSeek for text chat and session summaries, Qwen for photo analysis, and OpenAI for voice transcription. Prompts exclude your name, email, Apple ID, and raw account identifiers — they refer to "the user" and include only the fitness context needed for the request.
Ascent AI does not train its own models with your chat data. OpenRouter and the downstream model providers process submitted data under their own data-use and retention terms. We do not promise that those providers apply zero retention. We will update this policy before changing the providers or purposes in a material way.

We share data only with the recipients needed to provide the app:

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.
Ascent AI is operated from Hong Kong. Tencent Cloud processes the live service in Hong Kong, while OpenRouter, its downstream model providers, Cloudflare R2, Apple, Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central, and Firecrawl may process data in the United States or other countries where they operate. Those countries may have different privacy laws. We limit the data sent to each provider as described above and use the providers' applicable data-protection and service terms. Ascent AI can help summarize fitness data, estimate meals, and suggest training or nutrition actions, but it is not medical advice and does not diagnose, treat, or prevent disease. Consult a qualified health professional for medical concerns, injuries, symptoms, or major diet/training changes.
The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
We may update this policy; we will revise the "last updated" date and, for material changes, provide notice in the app.
